I Have Built My Life Around Protecting a Fragile Internal Mood

It’s Going Okay.

I have built my life around protecting a fragile internal mood.

In theory.

In practice, I sometimes forget and become extroverted for no good reason. I say yes to things. I talk too much. I enjoy myself slightly too loudly and convince myself I am fine. Then I go home and need several business days to recover. The system collapses briefly and I act surprised every time.

I'd like to say most of my life is arranged to keep things steady. Get up, run, start the day.

Manageable plans and enough space to reset.

But mostly I ignore all of that and drain the entire battery in one afternoon. It always feels worth it at the time. It never is the next day. The mood needs repairs. Everything slows down. The work waits while I remember why the system exists in the first place.

I am getting better at noticing when I am about to overdo it. Is that progress?

If you want to see the work that happens in between careful mood protection and unnecessary social enthusiasm, it exists elsewhere on this site.

It was made during the recovery period.
