I Pay Attention to Walls More Than I Probably Should
I pay attention to walls more than I probably should. Not important walls. Just walls that have been marked, scratched, painted over, or slightly ignored. While I am looking at them, I often forget where I am going.
I have walked into things more than once because I was focused on the wrong wall.
This feels avoidable but keeps happening anyway.
Walls are full of accidental decisions. Layers. Faded attempts. Small fixes that did not quite work. I stare at them long enough to start seeing patterns that probably are not there. This extends beyond walls. Flowery curtains are especially bad. If I look at them for too long, shapes start forming. This level of attention is not useful in most situations. It does not help with directions or coordination.
It does however, help me notice small things that end up in the work later (usually without permission). If you want to see what happens when walls and curtains get too much attention, there is work elsewhere on this site.
It was made by someone who should have been watching where they were going.
